My very first copy of The Travel Apprentice arrived in the mail today and after 3-1/2 years I finally have my travel guide!
When I started writing my words for what became that book in my hands today they were intended to be posted in various travel forums as a reference for future travelers. As I planned my adventure I was finding so much conflicting advice on various things and I wanted to post my cold hard facts about planning a trip to Europe after I returned.
I always wanted to write something substantial but never had an outlet for writing anything significant until I started pouring all my ideas and facts into my computer about travel planning.
Those of us who have traveled know how important it is and our lives are almost defined by our decisions to leave our comfort zones and explore the world. It’s an extraordinary feeling that can only be understood through experience and I believe everyone should feel extraordinary at least once in their lives.
I want people to travel. I want people who don’t think they’re able or don’t think they can afford it to try. The Travel Apprentice is for those very people, the dreamers who want more and are willing to make an effort to be extraordinary.
I’ve worked very hard to get this book into my hands and the journey was far from easy and far from over. Although hard-work doesn’t always equal success, I have to believe it will be successful because if I don’t believe it, than nobody will…
That’s not to say people don’t believe in what I’m doing or don’t believe in what I’ve done but if I give up on this project I’ll never know what it may become and if i give up then nothing will ever become of it. Although it’s been well over three years since I started writing I feel like I’ve just begun and in fact, it’s been nine months since I posted all my words on thetravelapprentice.com so it wouldn’t be unfair to call it my baby would it?
The Travel Apprentice has a long way to go and the journey has only begun. The future is unknown and although I know where I want to go, I’m not sure how to get there which is what The Travel Apprentice is all about… and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Cheers! To the future, to the unknown, and to feeling extraordinary at least once in our life…
So what’s next?
Now I need to edit this and tweek all the minor errors before sending a final submission to lulu.com. I believe it’s ready for sale but I’ll need to perfect it before releasing it to amazon.com and other such resources.
I’ll be spending the next couple of weeks perfecting the final details over the holidays and will be ready by 2012!
